Ok so, I just remembered how people in the comments of a tiktok video were being assholes, and I want to rant now :3

The video showed two wheelchair users at a train(?), who had just arrived to their stop to find nobody was there with a ramp so they could leave the train. One of them blocked the door so it wouldn’t close, and this lasted for 15 minutes. The train was stopped for said 15 minutes. There was a button by the door, that said that it’d contact the driver when pressed. It didn’t. People offered to go find the driver, and they came back with the news that there were no people in the platform to put the ramp. In the end, passengers had to go out, and place the ramp themselves, before the train could carry on. The wheelchair users had warned they were coming, and asked to have the ramp put there so they could get down. The platform turned out to have workers, they all just ran away because they’d never encountered the situation in which they needed to do this simple task.

Because of the workers’ negligence, the train was forced to stop for 15 minutes.

Everyone’s comments?

  • “Why did they block the doors and stop the train? So selfish”
Selfish were workers who refused to do their job.
  • “What if someone had needed to get to their stop urgently? They shouldn’t have stopped the train”
It wasn’t the disabled people’s fault, it was the workers who were negligent.
  • “Why didn’t they just wheel themselves down those steps?”
They shouldn’t have to risk their (expensive) chairs just because people didn’t do what they were paid to do.
  • “If I had been in that train I would’ve been pissed, how dare you stop it”
And you probably wouldn’t have even thought about fixing the problem yourself, would you?
  • “Entitled assholes”
Ok I’ll leave you stranded in a train with everyone who could help you get down outright refusing to. Let’s see who’s an entitled asshole now.

If someone fights for accessibility, as much as it might be a bother for you, you do not have the right to be mad at them. If someone fights for accessibility, it is exclusively the fault of a world catered exclusively for able-bodied people.

So next time you think, “hey the consequences of these disabled people fighting for their rights bother me”, instead of blaming them for this, help them solve the issue. This way, next time they will not have to fight at all.

Able bodied people, go out and fight for a fucking accessible world if you’re not an asshole.

[ Able-bodied people are encouraged to reblog this post, but try not to derail ]

“What if someone had needed to get to their stop urgently?” What if the fucking disabled people had needed to get to their stop urgently?????

Please forgive me for ranting, but…I am so tired of AI. Just so tired. I don’t want Microsoft Copilot, or Google Gemini, or Meta AI, or whatever other energy-sucking, water-wasting, mediocrity-spewing LLM is currently being thrust upon me. I just want to be left alone to create in peace.

crazy how much your life can improve if you just Move Somewhere Else

my mental health was abysmal when I lived next to a 10 lane motorway in a tiny cramped city that was too hot for me… as soon as I moved back home to aotearoa and got to live by the sea in a small town with lots of green spaces and libraries and cafes and art galleries and sea lions and dolphins and penguins and native birds my mental health SKYROCKETED to the point where it’s honestly ridiculous. like saying “I LOVE BEING ALIVE… WOW WOW” out loud on occasion ridiculous. I’m so happy.

moving somewhere better is lifesaving. wishing everyone trapped in a shitty area the absolute best of luck moving somewhere someday that makes you glad to be alive [: it makes such a huge difference.

moving to aotearoa also blasted me into good mental health! i literally love my life so much i wake up every day and make myself eggs on toast and hang out with my dear friends and do work that matters to me!!

Literally the most unhelpful, doomer attitude people can have in a nutshell

“I’m doing all the things that I love but I keep getting MORE anxious and I think everyone ELSE should be MORE anxious too!”

This attitude is gonna be the death of ppl, seriously

It doesn’t help anything to sit there being anxious. Saying OTHERS aren’t anxious ENOUGH is particularly vile. “Nobody can be happy as long as there is suffering in the world.”

Making dinner and seeing your friends is the point. It is the answer. Building community and having fun is how you make the connections that make people want to protect each other and keep people safe.

Trust me, if talking about how bad things are would actually fix anything then the internet would have achieved world peace years ago.

i mean sure it’s not helpful to just be anxious and say that everyone else should be anxious too. but if you’re living through this period of time just doing things as normal and not feeling weird about it at all then you’re high-key delusional. anxiety is a feeling that tells us that something is wrong and something needs to change. if you’re watching the news and feeling anxious, use that energy to resist the growing tide of fascism. don’t just say “feeling anxiety is a doomer attitude” and tell people to make dinner and see their friends and be happy.

every day british actors wake up and think to themselves fuckkkkk i HAVE to help the incredibly bigoted woman make more money so she can funnel it into killing trans people i have to do it bro if i don’t do it i will die

In case y'all needed proof that continuing to engage with HP and fucking over trans folks is in fact a CHOICE, Daniel Radcliffe has refused to even have a cameo, despite being repeatedly asked.

image

For those that don’t speak British, this is about as close as he can get to officially, publicly saying, “for FUCK’S sake, get that thing away from me and stop associating me with it, I do not want my name attached to that bigotry.”

Daniel consistently redirects the topic away from Jo and toward the Trevor Project, an organization he has been heavily involved with for almost 20 years. He puts his money where his mouth is and uses his platform and his reach to amplify queer voices and queer struggles. He explicitly supports trans people, and is choosing to walk away from a very large and very easy paycheck, because he values trans lives over anything he could get from HP.

Emma and Rupert also won’t go near this reboot. Jo has stated the reason she’s doing it is BECAUSE the three of them refuse to support her vile hatred.

Every actor who puts their name on this, on any level, deserves to own the choice they’re making with their whole chest. If they decide the paycheck is worth being ten toes down on transphobia? They’re adults. They chose. And they deserve to be treated accordingly. Actions speak louder than words.

And if you give it a moment of attention or a single penny, you deserve to face the consequences of that choice too.
